FORMED: Early 1995 : Nagoya City, Japan
Lipstick Killers' original line-up consisted of Naruzy Suicide (Guitar & Vocal), O-Chang (Lead Guitar), Gen (Bass) and Moto (Drums & Backing Vocal). Lipstick Killers released their self-titled debut recording (on cassette) almost immediately after their formation. Their follow-up in 1996 was a video entitled, Diary Of A Killer, and shortly thereafter O-Chang departed the group. Throughout the remainder of 1996 the band continued to play acoustic shows with "guest guitarists" filling in. The band goes into the studio and records 6 songs, which will later appear on their 1997 release, A Portrait Of Flower Thief. The band hires fellow friend and musician Hitoshi to play bass, while Gen switches to acoustic 12-string for the recording session. A Portrait Of Flower Thief is released in October of that year. Returning for the recording project is O-Chang, along with guest artists including Hiroshi & The Golden Arms and Little Johnnie of Hong Kong Knife. Finally in 1998 Ni-Chang joins the band and in December they support the Kevin K Band on the Scene Of The Crime Tour. In January of 1999 the recording of their second album begins along with much touring. Angel & Snakes is released in January 2000. For the most part of 2001 the band toured (squeezing in recording betwenn March and November) in support of the album, with planned dates in New York City. But upon arrival in Seattle the band was denied entry into the country due to improper visas. Returning to Nagoya, uncertain when they would be able to play in the US, they attempted to return to touring. However, evidently upset with what ocurred, Ni-Chang leaves the band shortly thereafter. He was immediately replaced by Gardie, and the band finished there tour schedule. In April 2002, Lipstick Killers released a new album, Beautiful Darkness. ~ Ted Sterns, 13th Street Entertainment
